Description
The Middle Atlantic GRK-LVT30 is a large perforated vented top panel engineered for 30" deep GRK series racks, providing 64% open area where a solid top would otherwise sit. It is a small component with a disproportionate effect on the reliability of everything installed beneath it.
64% open area for passive convection
Thirty-inch deep racks are typically chosen because the installation demands them deeper amplifiers, servers, UPS units or dense patching that will not fit a shallower enclosure. That same density is what makes thermal management critical.
Equipment at this depth generates real heat, and a solid rack top traps it exactly where it does the most damage i.e., at the top of the enclosure, where warm air collects and where thermally sensitive electronics frequently sit. A 64% open panel lets convection carry that heat out continuously, drawing cooler air in from below and establishing passive airflow without any powered component.
The advantage of solving the problem this way is that there is nothing to maintain and nothing to fail. Fan assemblies draw power, accumulate dust, need filter changes, produce audible noise in occupied rooms and eventually wear out.
A perforated top does none of those things. In many installations it removes the need for forced ventilation entirely; where fans are still required, it substantially improves their effectiveness by giving the exhausted air somewhere to go.
Dimensionally the panel measures 0.5" high with a 29.7" depth, matched to the 30" GRK rack so it seats cleanly with no gaps and no field modification. As a factory Middle Atlantic part, the finish and fit match the rest of the rack system. The GRK-LVT30 is GREENGUARD certified and identified as environmentally friendly, useful documentation for projects with LEED or corporate sustainability requirements.
