Description
The Middle Atlantic GRK-LVT36 is a large perforated vented top for 36" deep GRK series racks, delivering 64% open area in place of a solid top panel. In a rack this deep chosen for equipment that simply will not fit anywhere shallower passive ventilation stops being a refinement and becomes part of the core design.
64% open area for high-density enclosures
A 36" GRK typically houses substantial hardware i.e., multi-channel amplifiers, rack-mount processing, servers, UPS units and dense cable management, often stacked to capacity. The heat load in such an enclosure is significant, and the physics is unforgiving.
Warm air rises and collects at the top of the rack; if the top is solid, it has nowhere to go and simply raises the ambient temperature that every device above it has to operate in. A panel that is nearly two-thirds open converts the top of the rack from a barrier into an exhaust path, letting convection move heat continuously out of the enclosure and pull cooler air in below.
The practical benefit is measured in service life and service calls. Electronics operated consistently above their design temperature fail earlier, and the failures rarely announce their cause an amplifier that dies at four years instead of ten is usually attributed to bad luck rather than to a solid rack top.
Passive ventilation also avoids everything that comes with forced-air cooling: power draw, filter maintenance, fan noise in occupied spaces, and one more component with a finite lifespan.
The panel measures 0.5" high with a 35.7" depth, dimensioned specifically for the 36" GRK rack so it seats correctly with no gaps and requires no modification. It is a factory Middle Atlantic component, so fit and finish match the rack system, and it carries GREENGUARD certification and environmentally friendly designation for projects with sustainability documentation requirements.
