Description
Rack cooling fans are normally installed and then forgotten, running continuously at full speed whether or not the equipment inside needs cooling. The AtlasIED CFT-125 is a simple, effective correction to that habit i.e., an equipment-mount thermostat that provides ventilation control for fans or other cooling equipment. Thus, switching them on only when the temperature inside the enclosure actually calls for it.
Adjustable 40°F to 90°F switching
Operation is deliberately straightforward. An adjustable dial sets the trigger point anywhere from 40°F to 90°F. The thermostat engages and disengages the connected fan automatically around that setpoint.
A three-wire extension cord with a series plug makes installation easy with no rewiring because the fan plugs into the thermostat. Then the thermostat plugs into the outlet, and the dial is set. A wire hanger and keyhole slots handle mounting inside a rack, credenza, equipment closet or projector enclosure.
The benefits compound in ways that are easy to underestimate. Fans that run only when needed last considerably longer, and their filters need replacing far less often. This is a meaningful reduction in the maintenance burden across an estate of rooms.
Power consumption drops correspondingly. Most noticeably in occupied spaces, ambient noise falls: a boardroom credenza whose fans idle silently until the amplifier actually warms up is a materially better room than one with a constant background whir.
Physically the unit measures 5.5" high × 1.5" wide × 2.5" deep and ships at 2 lbs. It is UL listed to standard 873 and carries a 12-month manufacturer warranty from date of purchase. CAD drawings and a datasheet are available for anyone documenting an enclosure design.
