Description
Liberty AV's RG8-CMP-BLK-500 is a 500-foot reel of black RF400-type RG8 solid dual-shield plenum coaxial cable. A low-loss 50-ohm RF cable for microwave and wireless applications where the run passes through an air-handling space and code demands a plenum-rated jacket.
Dual-shield RF400 construction rated to 6.0 GHz
Construction is heavy-duty and purpose-built for RF performance rather than general-purpose coax duty. A 10 AWG solid annealed bare copper center conductor sits inside cellular fluoropolymer insulation, surrounded by dual shielding: 100% lightly bonded aluminum/poly foil plus a 90% tinned copper braid. That combination delivers both the full-coverage shielding that blocks high-frequency ingress and the braid coverage that handles lower frequencies and provides mechanical robustness. The jacket is PVDF, plenum rated.
Electrically the cable presents 50 ohm impedance with an 83% velocity of propagation and a DC resistance of 0.90 ohm per 1,000 feet, it is rated to 6.0 GHz with very low loss and excellent VSWR. Those figures are the reason to specify RF400-class cable rather than a generic RG8.
