Description
The AVPro Edge AC-EXUSB-3-KIT extends USB 3.2 Gen 1 signals up to 100 meters (328 ft) over a single Cat 6a cable using HDBaseT technology. Passive USB 3.x cabling tops out at about nine feet, which is a problem when the codec, camera or soundbar sits far from the host computer.
The kit has a Host unit and a Device unit, the Device end doubles as a four-port hub, so you can connect up to four USB devices in any combination of USB 3.2 Gen 1, 2.0 and 1.0.
It is tuned for conferencing. Office and huddle-room soundbars put a heavy load on USB extension, the kit keeps mixed simultaneous traffic in sync across all four ports using DisplayLink and Framesync support. A full 5 Gbps of USB 3.0 SuperSpeed bandwidth is available in full duplex, which suits 4K cameras, codecs and conference-room soundbar systems.
A user-selectable 5V switch lets the Device unit either follow the Host (so disconnecting the Host's 5V drops the Vbus output and forces each peripheral to renegotiate) or maintain constant 5V.
Installation is simple. Pick either unit to power and the other receives power over the cable through bidirectional PoC. Cat 6a is recommended for new pulls; existing Cat 5e can be used, although the maximum distance falls to about 70 meters. For lighter-duty peripherals, the AC-EXUSB-2-KIT extends USB 2.0.

Placement tips: put the Host unit near the computer or codec and the Device unit near the camera, soundbar or other peripherals. Since, the Device end acts as a hub, you can place several conferencing devices at the front of a room with one cable run back to the rack. Choose the power end that is most convenient and let the cable power the other unit.
