AVPro Edge AC-AEX-DEARC-KIT
Point to Point audio extender using eARC over a single category cable
Description
The AVPro Edge AC-AEX-DEARC-KIT is a transmitter and receiver pair that carries eARC audio from a television back to a central equipment location over a single category cable (Cat 6a recommended) at distances up to 100 meters (328 ft).
It handles audio only and does not process video. Since, eARC offers nearly 30 times the audio bandwidth of optical connections, the kit can return lossless codecs from a TV's built-in apps, or ATSC 3.0 Dolby AC-4 tuner audio, to an AVR or preamp-processor without compromise.
Dolby Atmos and DTS:X pass cleanly. The eARC link's protocol overhead of nearly 37 Mbps equals eight channels of 192 kHz, 24-bit uncompressed PCM, and AVPro Edge's AP-LINK technology keeps timing stable for up to 32 uncompressed channels. It also maintains audio-with-image synchronization at the display and handles the lip-sync data and the regular heartbeat signal that mutes the TV's own speakers.
The transmitter at the television can switch between HDMI ARC or eARC and provides an HDMI output for a soundbar or local gear. Dual-purpose analog L/R and mini-TOSLINK connectors give additional local or endpoint options, and bidirectional IR while RS-232 allow remote room control.
Power is transmitted over the cable or from the supplied 12VDC adapter. The kit does not downmix multichannel audio, so L/R outputs reflect the input status. For stereo-only runs, see the AC-AEX-KIT.
Key Features
- eARC and ARC: selectable at the television, with ARC available for older AVRs and preamps.
- Immersive audio: Dolby Atmos and DTS:X over Cat 6a up to 100 m.
- AP-LINK: stable timing for up to 32 uncompressed audio channels.
- Flexible outputs: HDMI for a soundbar, plus L/R analog and mini-TOSLINK.
- Bidirectional IR and RS-232: local room control from the equipment location.
- PoC capable: power the kit over the cable or use the 12VDC adapter.
Design and Installation Notes
Why eARC? Standard ARC and optical connections limit the audio you can send back from a TV, while eARC carries lossless codecs and immersive formats. By extending eARC over Cat 6a, the kit lets a TV in a distant room send its app audio to an AVR or preamp-processor rack with full fidelity.
Typical Applications
Ideal for homes and hospitality suites where the TV's streaming apps must feed a central AVR or multiroom audio system. See more point-to-point audio extenders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How far can the AC-AEX-DEARC-KIT send audio?
A. Up to 100 meters (328 ft) over Cat 6a.
Q. Does it carry video?
A. No. It transports audio only; video data is not processed.
Q. Does it down mix multichannel audio?
A. No. L/R outputs follow the input status, so you may need to choose stereo output in the TV's audio menu for dialogue.
Q. Is ARC supported as well as eARC?
A. Yes. eARC is the focus, but ARC is available for suitably equipped legacy AVRs and preamp-processors.
