Niveo NGSME8HX-AV
Niveo 8 Port Switch
- 8 rear-port 10/100/1000Base-T PoE + 2 Gigabit SFP Layer 2+ Management PoE +130/235W Switch
Description
The Niveo NGSME8HX-AV is an 8-port Gigabit Ethernet switch purpose-built for AV-over-IP deployments. It combines rear-facing ports for clean rack cabling with a 235W PoE+ power budget large enough to feed power-hungry endpoints like PTZ cameras, AV encoders/decoders, and wireless access points without a separate power injector.
Eight 10/100/1000Base-T PoE ports handle the connected AV and network devices, while two additional Gigabit SFP fiber ports provide uplink connectivity to a core switch or building backbone over longer distances than copper alone would allow.
The rear-port layout on the "-AV" variant is specifically designed so cabling routes to the back of an equipment rack rather than the front. This approach helps keep the front panel clear in AV racks where technicians need visual access to status LEDs without a tangle of patch cables in the way.
Under the hood, the switch runs a 36 Gbps switching fabric with a 26.8 Mpps forwarding rate and a 32K-entry MAC address table, giving it enough headroom for busy AV-over-IP networks carrying multiple simultaneous video streams alongside standard data traffic.
Full Layer 2/3 management support includes IEEE 802.3af/at-compliant PoE with per-port control, VLAN tagging, spanning tree protocols, LACP link aggregation, IGMP snooping for multicast video traffic, and SNMP/web GUI/CLI administration, putting it firmly in enterprise-managed territory instead of the plug-and-play unmanaged switch category.
Specifications and Warranty
The unit measures 44 x 440 x 331mm and weighs roughly 2.5 kg. It is built for standard rack mounting in AV and IT equipment rooms.
It operates across a 040°C range for typical indoor commercial environments. Niveo backs the NGSME8HX-AV with a 10-year warranty upon product registration, reflecting its target use in permanent AV-over-IP and networked video installations instead of temporary or portable setups.
