Description
Heat is the enemy of AV equipment. Heat shortens the service life of Amplifiers, matrix switchers, media players and network gear all when they run warm. The single most cost-effective intervention is usually not adding fans but removing the barrier that traps rising air inside the enclosure. The Middle Atlantic GRK-LVT24 is a large perforated vented top panel for 24" deep GRK series racks, offering 64% open area in place of a solid top.

That 64% figure is the specification that matters. A solid rack top forces heat generated by every device in the enclosure to accumulate at the highest point precisely where the most sensitive equipment often sits and to escape only through side vents or forced ventilation.
Replacing it with a panel that is nearly two-thirds open lets convection do the work it wants to do, allowing warm air to exit continuously through the top while cooler air is drawn in below. In many installations this passive approach alone brings internal temperatures into an acceptable range, avoiding the cost, power draw, maintenance and noise of a fan assembly entirely.
The panel is dimensionally matched to the 24" deep GRK rack, measuring 0.5" high with a depth of 23.7" so it seats correctly without gaps or overhang. Because it is a factory Middle Atlantic component rather than a fabricated substitute, fit and finish match the rest of the rack and installation requires no modification.
