Description
The JBL PRX835W is a self-powered 15" three-way main system loudspeaker built for live sound, houses of worship, corporate AV, and portable PA applications that require serious output without a separate amp rack.
A 1500-watt Class-D amplifier (750W per channel, bi-amplified) drives three dedicated transducers: a 15" woofer for low end, a 6.5" horn-loaded midrange driver, and a 1.5" neodymium compression tweeter, giving the cabinet a true three-way design rather than a passive crossover bolted onto a two-way box.
That configuration produces a peak SPL of 138 dB with 90° x 50° coverage and a frequency response reaching down to 39 Hz in boost mode, enough headroom for a single cabinet to cover small-to-mid-size rooms on its own.
What sets the PRX835W apart from earlier PRX models is built-in Wi-Fi: the free PRX Connect app (iOS and Android) gives engineers wireless control over output level. An 8-band parametric EQ, up to 50ms of adjustable delay for time-aligning multiple cabinets, and stored EQ presets, all without needing to walk up to the back panel mid-show.
Input options cover both amateur and professional setups, with balanced XLR/¼" combo inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs, and an XLR mix-out for looping to additional cabinets.
Cabinet, Rigging, and Build
The enclosure is 18mm poplar plywood finished in JBL's Obsidian DuraFlex coating with a cloth-backed steel grille. This helps to stricke a balance between road-ready durability and manageable weight for a cabinet in this power class.
A standard 35mm pole cup allows it to sit on a subwoofer or speaker stand, while 12 M10 suspension points support flown rigging configurations for permanent or semi-permanent installs.
An intelligent variable-speed fan keeps the amplifier cool without running at full noise constantly, and the unit runs on a universal 100240V power supply for international deployment.
